Spanish Grand Prix : CIRCUIT DE BARCELONA-CATALUNYA

Round 5 of the Formula 1 Season along with our GP2 Drivers.

With the the 2015 Formula 1 and GP2 Seasons well underway, we approach the first of the european races. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is extremely well known to motor enthusiasts. The track has been used every year since 1991 and is famously used as an extensive testing ground for teams.

The track has a mixture of both fast corners over blind brows, slow corners before DRS detection points and excitingly long straights past and behind the pits. The drivers will be completing 66 laps and will cover over 307 kilometers, lap record is currently held by Kimi Raikkonen with 1:21.670, and at that speed it will be hard to keep the tyres at a maintainable level with the abrasive surface.

Out of the two McLaren drivers, Fernando Alonso has previously come away on top of the podium in Barcelona. McLaren have given the MP4-30 a livery makeover ahead of the race and are said to be bringing the fight after some less than ideal finishing results in the previous four races. Take a look and tell us what you think!

Mitch Evans and Richie Stanaway are also to be racing in the GP2 Series alongside the Formula 1. Following both of their respective wins at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Spa, both drivers will be keen to collect some more silverware. Mitch has started his season off 8th in the points standings and Richie in 12th, but with 9 more races to go they both have a lot of opportunities to prove that Kiwi's really can fly! All the best to the both of them.

GP2 Race 1 is at 1:40am Sunday Morning, with Race 2 later on at 8:35pm. The main event, Formula 1 will be starting at Midnight (Sunday-Monday).
