Kiwi motorsport receives Giltrap backing once again - in honour of present and former racing legends

Since before the Giltrap Group was formed, Sir Colin Giltrap has been involved in motorsport. Starting in the mid-sixties, Colin could be found behind the wheel of a race car.
However his passion really lay in supporting young New Zealand motoring talent, in the hope that they would make it in the “big time” overseas.
Over the past fifty years, Colin has been attributed as the main driver of New Zealand motorsport talent.

Similarly, the Giltrap Group were instrumental in founding the iconic New Zealand team competing in the well-known A1GP series, racing Black Beauty around the world.

In 2012, Sir Colin accepted New Year’s Honours, having been made Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit – honoured for his services to motorsport and philanthropy by enabling talented Kiwis to achieve their goals and international recognition.

Today the Giltrap Group celebrate 50 years of passion, vision, teamwork and determination – forming one of the strongest automotive groups in New Zealand.
