HOLDEN TO EXPAND POPULAR LIGHT CAR LINE UP

New Barina CDX model to go on sale November * Debuts innovative new MyLink infotainment system * Will introduce automatic transmission on Barina Spark hatchback from January

Holden’s popular light car range will be expanded in coming months with the introduction of a new range topping Barina CDX model in November and an automatic transmission for the Barina Spark in January.

Barina CDX adds new design, technology features and driver comforts as standard and becomes the first car in Holden’s range to showcase the new MyLink infotainment system.
MyLink offers a seven-inch colour touch screen radio capable of displaying music, videos, photos and contacts for hands-free calling. Launching with the Stitcher Smart Radio embedded application; the MyLink system will be supported in the future with additional apps that offer drivers added information and entertainment options.
Holden New Zealand Marketing Comms Manager, Marnie Samphier said the new CDX model will only increase Barina’s appeal in our very competitive market.
“The discerning light car buyer is increasingly looking for a higher level of standard features that you might typically find in a larger car and one of the features that is most sort after is an advanced audio system that can work with their smart phone, Barina brings this and a whole lot more.
“MyLink is a very exciting addition to Barina’s features. It offers the largest touch screen for a car in its class, offers integration with a range of compatible smartphones and it’s very easy to use.”

Barina Spark
Further strengthening Holden’s Barina light car line up, Holden will introduce an automatic transmission to the Barina Spark from January 2013.
Marnie Samphier said that an automatic transmission was becoming a more crucial feature of the light car segment.
“It has always been our intention to offer automatic transmission on Barina Spark and with more and more light cars sold year to date featuring an automatic transmission and with sales continuing to grow in this segment now is the perfect time to add this option to the Barina Spark line up.”

About MyLink
The Holden MyLink Infotainment system operates by integrating the owner’s compatible smartphone and stored media – via Bluetooth, plug-in outlet or USB – with the radio. This lets owners enjoy simple, safe and personalised connectivity while their smartphone is stowed.
MyLink launches with the Stitcher Smart Radio embedded application. Additional apps will be available from the first quarter of 2013, with Holden MyLink, the first in-car system in Australia to offer full compatibility with Pandora internet radio.
