Giltrap Volkswagen gets the most out of All Wheel Drive

Over the weekend, Giltrap Volkswagen invited a team of new customers and thier 4WD vehicles to a day of Off-Roading in the Managtawhiri Valley. The day looked to get everyone familiar with the on-board arsenal of smart systems that help the cars negotiate tough terrain and tricky traction, while teaching them correct driving technique to confront many 4WD scenario.
The wind managed to prevent any rain from setting in, giving us the perfect ground conditions for getting the most out of the all-wheel-drive experience. In the safe hands of the Natural Instincts instructors, teams of four were lead out to various off roading activities. Incline and undulation courses brought out the army of smart traction control technology that VW has developed, while the gearing systems, particularly in the manual vehicles, where impressive here as well.
A mud slalom course provided some great entertainment and fierce competition as quickest times tumbled on the slippery track, to the detriment of the bucket markers that were crushed in the process. By lunch, the 4WD 2.0L Tiguan was in need of a serious wash, once everyone had put in a time.
After a delicious BBQ lunch, thanks to Eden Catering, the team set out to replicate the Volkswagen Amarok ad with mud flinging doughnuts. Meanwhile, some enthusiasts within the group were lead away on an course to apply the mornings teaching to a variety of differnt slopes, river crossings and other environnments. Needless to say, after everyone had tried their hand at getting the spin just right, the paddock had bacome a mud pit.
