Lamborghini Winter Academy - Queenstown
Lamborghini comes to picture-perfect Queenstown.
This was Lamborghini’s first official factory event to be held in New Zealand, with dealers and their customers, coming from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. The event was headed by Lamborghini’s Chief Academy Instructor, Peter Mueller, with the assistance of Tim Martin, and the locally based Downforce team.
Unfortunately the weather gods didn’t smile on the week's event. After having perfect conditions on the day prior, the strong northwest winds and heavy rain turned the perfect base into slush. Of course this is one element that was totally out of everyone’s control, and meant the snow base was out of bounds.
Fortunately the newly completed Highlands Motorsport Park came to the rescue, with cars and teams all transferring to this incredible facility. Even though some were disappointed not to drive in the snow, the excellent track layout and special activities put on, meant that all the participants had a special experience driving the various models of Lamborghini Gallardos' during the day.
Things are boding well for Lamborghini to return again next year, probably a little later in August - the weather should be more settled at this time. Lamborghini Auckland had seven customers attend on Sunday July 7th, who enjoyed the added bonus of helicopter trip (to and from the track) due to the slip blocking the Queenstown Cromwell road.
Independent Prestige would like to thank Hilton Queenstown for their excellent service during our stay; Queenstown certainly has something for everyone, even when it rains.
