First Kiwi to Participate in Audi Sport TT Cup

Audi New Zealand today announced that 25 year old Aucklander Simon Evans will be representing Audi New Zealand in the prestigious Audi Sport TT Cup, in Germany from 9-11 September 2016, as the first ever Kiwi to join the race.
The Audi Sport TT Cup is a seven race series run across three European countries. A total of 125 male and female drivers applied for a starting place,and 16 international talents were selected and now have the chance to demonstrate their skills in the Audi one-make cup. On top of this, at every race a handful of changing guest starters (including Evans) are invited to
take part.
The race series is designed to provide opportunities for talented young drivers to enter the world of Audi Motorsport, and is the first step for drivers on the journey towards the DTM German Championship and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Evans, a Sales Executive at Giltrap Audi and an Audi driving experience instructor, will be racing at the iconic Nürburgring circuit in Germany. He will be driving a highly tuned and race prepared Audi TT S, known as a TT Cup car.
He says, “It’s such an honour to be selected to race in the Audi TT Cup. I can’t wait to get over to Germany and compete at the Nürburgring. It feels pretty special to be picked out as the first New Zealander to compete in the race and represent the country and Audi NZ on the world stage.”

Audi Sport is significant in the local market, as New Zealanders love of Audi Sport models and passion for performance has seen the country achieve the number one position for percentage of R and RS sales worldwide.
The 2016 Audi Sport TT Cup is currently in its second season. It began on 7 May at Hockenheim and will finish on 16 October.
