Nissan has released online the complete short film "Desert Nemesis" about the Nissan Juke-R vs. supercars in a street race in Dubai. The film's release also marks the announcement of a limited production run of the manic Juke-R supercar crossover.

Available in a very limited production run on a build-to-order basis, Nissan promises the new Juke-Rs will be even more powerful than original concept car, which was based on the model year 2010 Nissan GT-R running gear, and came with 485 bhp (362 kW / 492 PS). The Juke-R concept accelerated from 0-62mph (0-100kph) in just 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 160mph (257kph). However, the run of new Juke-Rs will feature the upgraded drivetrain and chassis of the model year 2012 GT-R which packs 545 hp (406 kW / 553 PS) and 463 lb-ft (627 Nm) of torque.

Nissan has received three firm orders for cars to be built, two of which have come from a high-profile and well-respected member of Dubai society. Production of the first cars is already underway with delivery taking place in late summer.

Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Product Manager for the Juke, said: "The Juke-R was originally intended as a one-off concept to marry two of Nissan's most innovative models. But the reaction we had to the car in Dubai was amazing - people were making offers for the original on the street!

"With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality. We can't let down enthusiasts who are this keen to add to their collection of cars. The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon and I'm enormously proud of the impact it has had. There will be more news to come on Juke later in the year."
