Aston Martin 'Mid-Winter' Fun Run

Our Annual Aston Martin ‘Mid Winter’ Fun Run was held the weekend of 27/28th of June.

We had a full contingent of 22 Aston Martins as we headed South on a beautiful Saturday morning. Our first of our groups was at the Papakura Service stop where a mass arrival of Aston Martins caused a bit of turmoil as interested motorist diverted their attention to the line-up of stunning cars.

A leisurely drive through to Waitomo for lunch was hampered by a long section of Road works before Huntly. The 3-course lunch at Huhu café was fantastic and comes highly recommended if you happen to be travelling down the same route. They managed to get us in, feed us and out in just over an hour, an achievement by all means!

The drive from Waitomo through Te Kuiti and Whakamaru and on to Huka Lodge was a truly special drive… little to no traffic, smooth flowing roads with some of the best scenery in the North Island all made the drive that much more serene. The stunning fine conditions really made the drive, and being at the wheel of an Aston Martin, well, it really doesn’t get much better. Arriving to a glass of Champagne on the front balcony of the Lodge was a nice way finish a fantastic day of driving.

The Huka Lodge Experience is always a memorable one with the most beautiful property and friendly staff that make you feel at home. We were fortunate to have Regional Manager for Aston Martin,  Kevin Wall present. He shared some kind words over the fabulous 5-course degustation dinner prepared by Executive Chef Paul Froggat and his team.

Most enjoyed a leisurely start to Sunday with a few up early to take in the beauty (and challenge) of the Wairakei international Golf Course.

In summary... a great couple of days with a lovely group of people who share the passion of driving very special motor vehicles… Aston Martin of course!
