Everyone here at the Giltrap Group and throughout the many showrooms is extremely proud of the Kiwi boys and their fantastic result at the 24 Hours of Le Mans over the weekend. Their efforts showcased their skills and coming out on top only further cemented their prowess on the international stage.

The race winning Earl Bamber certainly put the pedal to the metal, or rather carbon fibre in his Porsche 919 Hybrid coming in with the winning car, not only bringing home another magnificent trophy but also dethroning Audi from the top of the WEC after five consecutive wins. The #19 Porsche was also piloted by German Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy. This is the first time Porsche has won the prestigious event since 1998, but after winning the 83rd running of this race, they have a record 17 wins at Le Mans!

As we can see from Earl's face, they were just a little bit excited to be looking over such a large crowd from the podium!

Porsche 919 Hybrid #19 Wins at Le Mans

Brendon Hartley and his fellow drivers Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard in the #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid came home in second place after an impressive race which saw great driving and efficiency from both the drivers and the a car. Even with a couple of penalties the #17 team began hunting down the Audi drivers to find themselves standing next to the winning #19 team.

After a gruelling 24 Hours, Jota Sport has finished with another fantastic result in the world's toughest motor race! Racers Simon Dolan, Oliver Turvey and our very own New Zealander, Mitch Evans. The trio clocked up 358 laps overall, spanning 3,031 miles at an average speed of 126.20mph. They drove twice around the clock between them but finished second by a mere 48 seconds. Mitch: "It has been a huge team effort. Everyone knuckled down and fought back really hard. We were all disappointed with what happened just after the start when a very small component let us down. It was really cool to be part of the recovery. We recovered so much time especially during the night. Simon did a great job. Olly was fantastic and I was happy to put quite a bit of time in as well. The strategy was spot on with Sam and the boys. It’s been a great experience.”
